Re: Motorcycle shops.
The "glass" is plastic - I would only remove it if you were going to oven bake the paint on the MC....
or if it's leaking....or you were replacing due to crazing, etc.
A smear of RTV behind the "glass" will prevent leaks.

Well results that start a new carrer based in the home town takes even more time than been a trucker.
So I dissasemble the MC for the clutch, no scoring, the gasket was placed correctly, and I had no leaks.
So I am going to ask for a used MC and a rebuilding kit.
What is the best rebuilding kit out there?

Personally,...I would go with OEM.
Have had zero issues with them....can't say the same for the cheapies found elstwhere.

Yes, the First One with the Suzuki trademark..."S"...is OEM.
The other kit might work. I cannot speak as to it's longevity/quality, but since you have it, why not, eh?

Re: Motorcycle shops.
This site is pretty handy - you can search by model or by part number. It will tell you which bikes the part fits:
https://www.cmsnl.com/
FYI - that rebuild kit fits over 200 models.

So I order used master cylinders brake and clutch used, I dessasemble the clutch one and cleaned it, I hit it with brakes parts cleaner and to my surprise they had a clear coating on them, now is gone, should I use 2k spray clear coat or leave them alone?

Re: Motorcycle shops.
I would spray them with a clear coat. makes it easier to keep them clean and corrosion free.
I can't seem to win the lottery. I think I have used up all of my good luck riding motorcycles.

With out that clear coat the polished aluminum would oxidize if not protectedazazelakira wrote: ↑Thu May 30, 2024 10:31 amSo I order used master cylinders brake and clutch used, I dessasemble the clutch one and cleaned it, I hit it with brakes parts cleaner and to my surprise they had a clear coating on them, now is gone, should I use 2k spray clear coat or leave them alone?
Honda used to sell Aluminum specific clear coat but I dont think they do any more
Eastwood my sell it but be sure it is for aluminum
You may have decent luck with any clear coat

Re: Motorcycle shops.
Me again, so I made the update to put a 3 pot caliper on the front brake, but send it chrome, bad idea, the caliper leaks. I got a used caliper, have the rebuild kit but does not come with the 2 seals that go in the middle of the caliper, does anyone know where to find them or how to ask for them online.

Re: Motorcycle shops.
Since it is a static face seal, you may be able to use common Buna-N "O"-rings of the same thickness (cross section).
Try hydraulic supply stores or hardware stores.

Re: Motorcycle shops.
You should be able to clean those up and reuse.
Use brake cleaner and rub the corrosion off them with a rag.

Hopefully works, because looks like I live in a town where nothing that I need is sold here, a factory of gaskets told me they can't make them, too small. And nobody in town has gaskets that size.

Re: Motorcycle shops.
Well I had to polosh the master cylinder because I didn't read the instructions on the solution for ultrasonic cleaners and stain the aluminum, the clutch one I finish today and looks good. I will polish the brake tomorrow, and paint them Sat or Sun. Apart of the gaakets, finally the project is walking fine.

Re: Motorcycle shops.
You can also smear a little RTV on the gaskets if you are worried they might still leak. They get crushed between the 2 halves of the caliper so they aren't going anywhere.azazelakira wrote: ↑Thu Jun 06, 2024 3:49 pmHopefully works, because looks like I live in a town where nothing that I need is sold here, a factory of gaskets told me they can't make them, too small. This takes some good elbow grease, I hope I don't mess them up with the clear coat.

Lookin' mightyfine there!
To ensure the best success in Clearcoat application ,...please make sure you clean them up really well, and be sure not to touch them with your fingers afterwards. Even that small amount of oil can mess things up on you.
